Dear Friends,
After a spring spent at home working hard at our respective school and work desks, as well as training at the gym and on the water with our new boat, we are getting ready for our second big regatta of the year: the Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik, the Netherlands.
We arrived on Saturday, and will have gotten four good days of training in before racing starts tomorrow, Wednesday May 27th. We have been training with the US Sailing Team Alphagraphics, and joining international teams for racing. We were happy to see that we are still fast in the light and medium air conditions we have trained in thus far.
Racing goes through Saturday, with a medal race among the top 10 teams on Sunday. This will be the largest women’s 470 regatta of the spring, with 36 teams registered. Most of the top international women’s teams are here except for the Australian reigning Olympic Gold medallists, Austrians (reigning European Champions), and the top Danish women’s team (winner of Miami OCR against us and winner of Hyeres 2 months ago).
Just north of Amsterdam, Medemblik is known for its cold temperatures, strong winds, and short, steep waves. While the past three days have been warm and mild, Medemblik is becoming more true to itself. A violent thunderstorm that even brought some hail kept us awake for much of last night, Monday night. The forecast for today and the rest of the week is windy!
Today is for SW veering to NW, 18-25 knots, with gusts up to 30.
Wednesday: WSW 15-30 knots.
Thursday: NW 15-20 knots.
Friday: N 10-15 knots.
Saturday: NE 15 knots.
Sunday: NE 15 knots.
Please visit the Delta Lloyd Regatta’s website for more information:

The daily racing results can be found there starting tomorrow evening. Medal racing on the last day will also be posted there live where you will be able to see the competitors boats moving around the course since all boats will be fitted with a GPS on board.
As always, stay tuned for our updates, and please let us know if you would like to be removed from our list.
Best,
Erin and Isabelle
